Declaring Your 2012

With the New Year, it seems everyone talks about resolutions. Back in 2007, I used to host “Lunches of Inspiration” in Fargo and during one of my luncheons I spoke about Declarations vs. Resolutions. Now that we are in 2012, I wanted to include the information from that presentation here.

BRIEF HISTORY OF RESOLUTIONS (http://www.arcamax.com)

• Beginning in 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar.

• With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of each year.

• The New Year has not always begun on January 1. and it doesn’t begin on that date everywhere today. It begins on that date only for cultures that use a 365-day solar calendar.

•January 1 became the beginning of the New Year in 46 B.C., when Julius Caesar developed a calendar that would more accurately reflect the seasons than previous calendars had.

•In the Middle Ages, Christians changed New Year’s Day to December 25, the birth of Jesus. Then they changed it to March 25, a holiday called the Annunciation. In the sixteenth century, Pope Gregory XIII revised the Julian calendar, and the celebration of the New Year was returned to January 1.

Life Lessons and the Library

This past weekend I had the privilege of collaborating with friend and colleague, Kathryn Harwig for a weekend of messages and inspiration. Friday night we did a gallery event where we provided messages to the audience and then on Saturday we offered a workshop on spirit communication. It was a powerful weekend, the people and spirits were amazing and yet there was a small something incomplete about it because my family wasn’t there. Chanda and the kids were in Milnor, ND with my aunt and mother canning apple butter and apple pie filling. In some respects I was jealous to miss such a wonderful gathering of family, and yet I’m grateful for the fact that Chanda loves to write about her experiences and so I know when she is ready, I will be able to read how wonderful the experience was from the multiple levels she has perspective from.

An “AHA” Moment

Have you ever had one of those “Aha” moments that changes everything? One of the most profound moments for Chanda and I, came when we visited Portland, OR back in May of 2009. We came to a place of pure clarity on what we are up to here and why…and it has nothing to do with how many people we sit with or how many people show up at our events….it comes down to service and sharing our work full out. We gained this clarity on I-84 just after passing through downtown Portland.

The Greatest Month of Your Life

What if I told you this was going to be the greatest month of your life? What if I could tell you exactly whom you will meet, what wonderful events you will experience and what life transforming moments you’ll have? – How would you feel? Would you find yourself excited or terrified? As an intuitive and medium people sometimes assume that I immediately know this information. And although there may be times when I do get premonitions or insights into a person’s life journey, I do not necessarily know the specific details above. However, I still believe this is going to be the greatest month of your life. Why? – Because I believe if you declare it to be, it will.
